Who is the Equal Opportunities Working Party responsible for?

The Equal Opportunities Working Party is responsible for all university members pursuant to section 94 of the 2002 Universities Act, including:

  • Employees
  • Students
  • Research fellows
  • Academic and artistic university staff
  • General university staff
  • Non-tenured associate professors
  • Emeritus professors
  • Retired university professors

In addition, it is responsible for applicants:

  • applying for a position at the University of Vienna
  • applying for admission as a student.

What rights does the Equal Opportunities Working Party have?

  • Right to lodge an objection with the Arbitration Committee against the incorrect composition of a collegial body. The university body may not take decisions until the Arbitration Committee has come to a decision.
  • Right to lodge a complaint with the Arbitration Committee concerning discrimination.
  • Right to submit a proposal to the Rectorate for the Affirmative Action Plan for the Advancement of Women and Gender Equality.
  • The members of the Equal Opportunities Working Party are free from instructions and can decide independently while carrying out their function.
  • The members of the Equal Opportunities Working Party may not be impeded when fulfilling their tasks and may not be disadvantaged in their career promotion as a result of these activities.

 

What is the Equal Opportunities Working Party NOT responsible for?

  • The Equal Opportunities Working Party is not a decision-making body, but a monitoring body.
